Capita have today announced another cervical screening incident relating to 16 women who have a delayed call and a further 99 who should have been ceased but were not.
This latest incident highlights the ongoing issues with Capita's delivery of the call/recall function of the Cervical Screening programme (CSP).
The running of the CSP call/recall function was recently stripped from Capita, and is being moved back into NHS direct management as from early August. This will inevitably lead to some changes in the contact points and running of the CSP, and as and when we have further information on this we will publicise them.
This latest Capita incident shows the vital importance of a robust and reliable IT system and management of it.
This has been highlighted in several high profile reports this year, and promoted the removal of this aspect of service from Capita.
