A recent report has highlighted a strategy for Cancer in the next five years. Entitled "Achieving World Class Cancer Outcomes : A strategy for England 2015-2020."
The Independent Cancer taskforce was established by NHS England on behalf of the Care Quality Commission, Health Education England, Monitor, Public Health England and the Trust Development Authority in January 2015 to develop a five-year strategy for cancer services.
It covers many aspects of cancer services and cancer detection. It includes a section on cervical screening, and recommends the adoption of Primary HPV screening within cervical screening. If adopted, this would of course have large implications for the programme. The overall document will be of interest to all those involved in cancer services, and we await with interest to see if it is adopted and implemented.
