In Europe, the BAC has been collaborating with the International Cervical Cancer Prevention Association (ICCPA) on a cervical screening program in Moldova
This work to date has involved the RCPath. The RCPath has made one trip to Moldova a year ago. Two Moldovan pathologists have trained with Dr Michael Coutts at the West Kent Gynaecological Cancer Centre, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Following discussions with the BAC, BAC Executive member Hedley Glencross CSci FIBMS has now been invited to join the working group, and visit Moldova, to give advice about laboratory aspects of the plans for the Moldovan cervical screening programme. Hedley has a vast experience of laboratory working given his many roles in the past, and we are sure will be an asset to the working group. Look out for more information and Hedley’s experiences in the future.
