BAC members may wish to note a cytology practical microscopy workshop that is taking place on the afternoon of Sunday 24th September as part of the IBMS Congress - which is in addition to the three days of cytopathology lectures.
This intensive workshop is aimed at everyone who is already screening non-gynae cytology and will be particularly helpful to those who are considering sitting the Diploma of Expert Practice in Non-Gynaecological Cytology. Delegates will each be provided with a microscope (hence the need to book a place) and will be given 40 pre-marked cases to interpret and diagnose during a timed circulation. These will cover a mixture of effusions, respiratory and urine samples as these are the most commonly encountered in cytopathology and which are also the sample types covered in the Institute diploma examination.
Each case from the workshop will then be reviewed via a presentation of images of the pre-marked areas by our workshop leaders who will take you through all the important diagnostic features as well as pointing out the potential pit-falls.
The afternoon will also include an explanation of the requirements for the Diploma of Expert Practice in Non-Gynaecological Cytology.
In view of the limited number of places you need to call the Congress helpline on 01892 779990 to check availability and to secure your place
