CONTINUING EDUCATION CERTIFICATE (CEC) – HOW DOES IT WORK?
Enroll NowSign up to the Continuing Education Certificate (CEC) and you will receive a book where you can keep a record all your educational activities and claim credits for each one. The goal is to collect 500 credits and then claim your certificate.
The 500 credits must be achieved in a maximum of five years. Excess credits can be carried over to the next certificate, they will be signed into your next book by the administrator at the time of certification.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Enter your activity under the appropriate category page in your CEC book
CATEGORY 1 – Contractual
CATEGORY 2 – Formal Education Programmes
CATEGORY 3 – Other educational activities educational hour.
CATEGORY 4 – Presentations/teaching/audit/posters
CATEGORY 5 – Other Professional Activities
CATEGORY 6 – Job related activities (not directly cytology)
CATEGORY 7 – Higher Education
HOW MANY CREDITS FOR EACH ACTIVITY?
Credits will be given as outlined in the attached presentation (insert link)
The rating system has a slight weighting system for the more formal training events attended. This gives greater recognition of the higher education and practical elements which are directly cytology post related.
RECORDING ACTIVITIES
Please ensure that sufficient details are included in your book e.g. " in house session" is unacceptable but " in house session - pleural fluids" is acceptable
NOTES
• All entries must be signed by a third party, not yourself, and preferably by the event organiser or your lab manager/training officer
• Newly registered members can claim for the 3 months prior to their registration date.
RETURNING YOUR BOOK TO CLAIM YOUR CERTIFICATE
You MUST be a current paid-up member of the BAC.
Please ensure your name and address in the front of your book is current. Please remember to include your BAC membership and/or CEC number if possible.
Please complete the claim for certificate summary sheet (insert link)
Sign and date your book and sheet.
